The committee preparing the primaries in the Civic Coalition will consist of three people from the PO, one from the groups included in KO, and representatives of the candidates Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski. On November 15, the commission will develop regulations and set the end date of the primaries.
On Saturday, the National Board of the Civic Platform decided that primaries will likely be held on November 23 through electronic voting, in which KO members (PO, Nowoczesna, Inicjatywa Polska and Zieloni) will choose who will be the coalition candidate for the presidency in 2025 are. – the Mayor of Warsaw, Deputy Head PO Rafał Trzaskowski or Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. The winner of the primaries will present his program in Silesia on December 7.
Candidates for the committee
Candidates for the committee must be nominated by tomorrow. From the Civic Platform these will be: deputy speakers of the Sejm Dorota Niedziela and Monika Wielichowska and the head of the KO Club Zbigniew Konwiński.
Nowoczesna will appoint its Secretary General, Sławomir Potapowicz, to the committee; The Greens recommend MP Klaudia Jachira, while the Polish initiative recommends MEP Dariusz Joński.
The committee will also include representatives of the KO candidates for the presidency: Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski. Organizationally, the work of the committee will be supported by the PO National Office.
The committee’s duties include verifying all current members of individual parties included in KO, checking their email addresses and telephone numbers. The committee will also monitor the conduct of the primaries.
We’ll meet on Friday and agree on the rules
– Deputy Marshal Niedziela, who will become chairman of the committee, told PAP.
End date of the primaries
She said November 15 will also be the end date for the KO primaries, depending on how long it will take to verify all members’ details.
We initially assume it will be November 23, but we will know more on Friday
– said Niedziela.
The results of the primaries will be announced the next day.
Last long weekend, appropriate resolutions on participation in the primaries were adopted by: the Nowoczesna Board of Directors, the Inicjatywa Polska Board of Directors and the National Council of the Greens. These parties will not send their candidates to the primaries. The Polish initiative expresses support for Rafał Trzaskowski. The Greens want to organize online meetings with Trzaskowski and Sikorski, so that party members have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.
