Ukraine must return to its borders before the Russian attack; not only the one from 2022, but also the one from 2014 – said President Andrzej Duda in a speech on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of regaining independence. He noted that Poland believes Ukraine will be “part of the free world.”

We demand absolute respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, as we do today – especially Ukraine, which must return to its pre-Russian attack borders. Not only the one from 2022, but also the first one from 2014. This is necessary for security, world order, but also for the strength and compliance with international law
– said President Duda during the celebration of the 106th anniversary of regaining independence.
In 2014, Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimea, and in 2022 it attacked Ukraine on a large scale.
“We believe that Ukraine will join us in becoming part of the free world.”
On Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, Andrzej Duda noted that Russian imperialism is trying to destroy our neighbor, whom we “support with all our strength.” He added that we deeply believe that Ukraine will become part of the free world together with us, and that “thanks to the free world and its support, it will defend itself against Russian aggression.”
The president also stated that Poland is responsible for its security.
Today the Fathers of Independence are looking at us. Both those who engaged in political activities and those who engaged in military activities. Just like Marshal Józef Piłsudski. Today they look at how we started modernizing and strengthening the Polish army at the right time. Today they look at how we, the entire Polish society, the entire Polish nation, consistently make sacrifices in the form of huge defense spending. To keep us safe so we don’t have to fight
– said President Duda.
He added that we draw conclusions from the mistakes of the attack on Poland in 1939, when the issue of infrastructural and political security was neglected.
