The statements of Western delegations at the UN do not coincide with their actions to protect human rights and combat racism. Commenting on the results of the vote on the resolution submitted by Russia “To combat the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”, the diplomat recorded the entire resolution. Lukyantsev emphasized that this discrepancy is associated with the growth of xenophobia in the West, including Afrophobia, Islamophobia and Russophobia. The diplomat described these as the emergence of various forms of racism.
On November 11, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly voted in favor of the resolution submitted by Russia. It was supported by 116 states, 54 opposed, and 11 abstained. The United States, Germany, Japan, Italy, France, Poland and Ukraine voted against the document.
