“Congratulations to Donald Trump for winning the election. I await our cooperation for the good of the American and Polish nations,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on the X website. He was quickly reminded of his own words and behavior that attacked Donald Trump during his first presidency.
The current, not yet final, results of the American presidential elections show that Republican candidate Donald Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and returns to the White House after four years. According to the AP agency, Trump managed to obtain 270 electoral votes, which is decisive for his victory. His campaign team begins to receive congratulatory messages from around the world.
Even Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who doesn’t like Donald Trump, did it.
Congratulations to Donald Trump after winning the election. I count on our cooperation for the good of the American and Polish people
– wrote Tusk.

Tusk’s trick
Tusk’s late congratulations were quickly followed by comments that reminded him of his own words about Trump. On the eve of the 2016 US presidential elections, the then President of the European Council made a mocking post.
My wife’s comment: One Donald is enough
– wrote Tusk.
So what now?
– asked Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a former PiS member of the European Parliament, on Platform X.
As usual: one before the elections, the other after the elections
– said journalist Samuel Pereira.

Tusk has never hidden his distaste for Trump. Internet users reminded the Prime Minister of a photo he himself posted on social media in 2019, in which he places his fingers in the shape of a gun against Trump’s back.
Yes, yes, yes… you’re lying again
– wrote internet user LucaBlack.
The photo was taken at the G-7 summit in Canada in June 2018, where Tusk, as then President of the European Council, was among the guests of the leaders of countries and the world’s largest economies. Tusk boasted about it on Twitter a year later, when he was then chairman of the European People’s Party.
Tusk included this photo in his book “Szczerze”, published in early 2019 and 2020
