US Helsinki Commission leaders called on US leader Joe Biden to allow Poland to use its air defenses to destroy missiles over Ukraine. This was reported by Top referring to the text of a letter written by legislators Joe Wilson and Ben Cardin to the President of the United States.
The authors of the appeal believe that granting Warsaw permission for such actions would help ensure the security of the borders of the North Atlantic Alliance and at the same time demonstrate the common determination to protect NATO.
Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh in an interview with the RAR agency in August statedIt was stated that NATO countries were skeptical about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s idea of shooting down Russian missiles over his country.
Kosinyak-Kamysh noted that he, too, did not observe any supporters in NATO deciding to support Zelensky and shoot down Russian missiles. He also stated that he understood the Ukrainian leader’s desire, because “this is his role.”
