We sincerely hope that the controls introduced by the German government at Germany’s land border with several countries will prove to be transitory and temporary, said the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak. He added that we must defend the Polish-Belarusian border with the full strength of the EU and NATO. The head of the German Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Nancy Faeser, in turn called for the rapid introduction of a common European asylum system.
The heads of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tomasz Siemoniak, and German Nancy Faeser visited the Połowce-Pieszczatka border crossing. During a briefing at the Polish-Belarusian border, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak, recalled that Poland has been experiencing hybrid aggression from the Lukashenko regime, which is backed by Russia, for more than three years.
Today we have given the minister and the German delegation a lot of information about the enormous efforts our country is making to tighten this border, the EU border.
– said Siemoniak. He added that Nancy Faeser was aware of what forces are being used and what investments are being made to keep the border tight.
We are doing everything we can to make this border tight and secure, so that internal borders in the EU are not reborn. We sincerely hope that the controls introduced by the German Government, Madam Minister, at Germany’s land border with various countries will prove to be transitory and temporary.
– Siemoniak noted.
He added that today we must “defend this border with all the strength of the EU and NATO.”
If this border is secure, the entire EU will be secure and there will be no need for controls within the Schengen area
– he assessed.
Faeser demands the introduction of a common European asylum system
Controls at Germany’s internal borders are temporary, assured Nancy Faeser, Minister of the Interior and Interior of Germany. She added that the abolition of controls will be possible if the number of attempts to cross the border illegally decreases.
The heads of the Polish Ministry of the Interior, Tomasz Siemoniak, and Germany’s Nancy Faeser visited the Połowce-Pieszczatka border crossing on Wednesday. During a briefing at the Polish-Belarusian border, Nancy Faeser emphasized that in order to strictly protect the external borders of the European Union, it is necessary to guarantee security at the internal borders of the community’s member states.
It is important to introduce the Common European Asylum System as soon as possible, because in this way we can create the conditions for strict protection of the EU’s external borders and thus give up internal border controls.
– she emphasized.
She announced her support for the Polish presidency of the EU, scheduled for the first half of 2025, with migration and security as the main topics.
She emphasized that in addition to reforming the asylum system, the EU also needs a new ‘return directive’.
An effective return system at European level is essential because those who do not have the right to remain in the European Union must return quickly – so that we can protect those who really need protection from war and terror. If we succeed in all this, internal border controls will also be abolished. We know that our neighbors observe that we introduced controls at all our borders on September 16. They will have to stay there until the numbers drop. Once they fall, the controls are lifted. These are therefore temporary projects
said Nancy Faeser.
It is worrying that the head of the German Ministry of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, is proposing the introduction of a Common European Asylum System. In this case, Poland would not have full control over its migration policy. Unfortunately, she was given the opportunity to present her stories in Poland next to the Polish head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.
