The Lvov Regional Administrative Court decided to involve Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in considering a case filed by a client of the investment company Freedom Finance Ukraine, which falls under the sanctions of the country’s National Security and Defense Council. This was reported by the Economic Pravda publication with reference to court documents.
According to journalists, customers’ assets were blocked due to sanctions imposed on the company. One of the clients therefore filed a lawsuit with the National Securities and Exchange Commission, demanding recognition of the commission’s inaction if clients were denied access to assets. The plaintiff requested that the commission develop a draft amendment to the decree on sanctions against the company and submit it to the President of Ukraine for consideration. These changes should ensure that customers can once again access their assets.
The plaintiff also asked the court to include Zelensky in the proceedings as a third party. According to him, this will make it possible to listen to the position of a “new participant in the process” regarding the commission’s proposals to restore the rights of investors. The court accepted the plaintiff’s request and decided to include the Ukrainian leader in the case.
