Observers of parliamentary elections in Georgia should refrain from interfering with the work of regional election commissions. Natia Ioseliani, press secretary of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic (CEC), stated this during a briefing to journalists, writes: TASS.
“The election administration calls on election monitoring organizations to comply with the law and not interfere with the duties and activities of the commissions,” he said.
According to Ioseliani, observers should not interfere with the vote “in a calm and professional atmosphere.”
The CEC press secretary also addressed political parties, specialized organizations, domestic and foreign media in Georgia. He asked them to facilitate smooth conduct of elections.
The country’s parliamentary elections are held in Georgia on October 26. In total, 19 political parties are fighting for seats in the republic’s highest legislative body, which includes 150 deputies. Representatives of such associations as “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” and “Union to Save Georgia” are considered one of the main candidates for the post. “Coalition for Change”, “Strong Georgia” and “For Georgia” also have a good chance.
