The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade advocates changing the conditions of subsidies for aircraft leasing, which currently do not contribute to profits in the aircraft industry. This was stated by Minister Anton Alikhanov. Interfax.
According to Alikhanov, the ministry will not stop existing programs and will continue them in the next budget cycle. He noted that there is not yet a clear understanding of how lease payments for future aircraft purchases will be supported.
“I will simply say this: in my opinion, the conditions for the subsidy of rental rates will need to be reviewed,” Alikhanov added.
The minister also explained that it is now difficult to create profitable centers solely on the basis of commercial banks, airlines and suppliers of materials and components for the aircraft industry. Currently, the aircraft industry regularly faces losses and it is necessary to constantly find resources to compensate for the price difference.
As for existing lease agreements for aircraft, Alikhanov believes that it will be difficult to renegotiate them, but it is possible.
“This is a difficult issue to discuss. I am sure that both Vitaly Gennadyevich (Savelyev, Deputy Prime Minister for Transport) and Roman Vladimirovich (Starovoyt, head of the Ministry of Transport) can express their objections, but we are ready to defend our position,” he added.
Miroslav Boychuk, President of the Russian Flight Crew Union in August statedThat Russia may face a shortage of civil aviation pilots in two or three years. The main reason for this is the withdrawal of personnel from the country due to low salaries in the sector.
