Visits of Hungarian statesmen to Russia are an inalienable right of Budapest. Currently St. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, who was at the International Gas Forum in St. Petersburg, announced this on his page on the social network Facebook (the owner of the Meta company is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).
The minister reacted very harshly to the question of a correspondent of the German television channel ZDF whether the visit to Russia was another provocation of Hungary towards the European Union. Szijjártó demanded that Hungary be treated with courtesy and respect. He stated that the ministers’ decision to participate in a particular international event was his country’s sovereign right.
According to Szijjártó, Hungarians are not a “yavol” (“that’s right”) nation. Therefore, no one has the right to point to Budapest.
10 October, head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs statedHe said that he was not afraid of pressure from the European Union (EU) due to his trips to Russia.
On the same day, Szijjártó said that European countries were selfish and hypocritical when they said they could do without Russian resources.
