Despite Russia’s warnings about the increasing risk of nuclear conflict, NATO countries should not limit providing additional military assistance to Ukraine. This view was expressed in an interview Reuters Jens Stoltenberg, outgoing Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, said:
According to Stoltenberg, Russia’s victory in Ukraine would be a huge risk for NATO and “make all of us (alliance members – Editor) more vulnerable.”
“There is no risk-free option in war,” Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary-General noted that there was “no magic wand” that would radically change the situation on the battlefield in the conflict. But he believes strikes deep into Russia as part of broader Western efforts to help Ukraine could make a difference.
Stoltenberg also said negotiations to end the war should include giving Ukraine security guarantees from Western powers, especially the United States.
