“The issue of how pay and allowances are calculated (rural work, overtime) is a difficult one. Simplification would probably be needed. Next year 5 percent. increases,” Barbara Nowacka, MP of the Civic Coalition and Minister of National Education, said on Radio Zet.
The Minister of Education commented on the issue of teacher pay increases. “Solidarity Education” announced that it was disappointed in them.
However, I am somewhat surprised if today I mainly protest against Educational Solidarity. I don’t remember them demanding meetings with Prime Minister Morawiecki or Prime Minister Szydło in the same way. Let’s face it: when the teachers went on strike, they were the ones who broke the strike. They asked for a 30% pay increase. Prime Minister Morawiecki in August 2023. I am happy that the government of Donald Tusk has met their expectations. Different teachers’ salaries are calculated in different ways. The issue of how pay and allowances are calculated (rural work, overtime) is a difficult one. Simplification would probably be necessary. Next year 5 percent. increases
she said.
Suicide of a 16-year-old girl from Lubin
Barbara Nowacka commented on the suicide of 16-year-old Julia from Lubin, who was oppressed by her peers for years.
I know the story. Painful, very dramatic ending. There are no good words for how the girls’ parents and loved ones must feel. The Lower Silesian curator is investigating this case and checks everything. We asked her to pay special attention. I receive information from the curator, who must look carefully at the entire story. The issue of peer violence is one of the most serious challenges we face in ministry. This crisis has various manifestations: more frequent depression among young people, a lack of meaning and often a lack of will to live. We do everything we can to make the school a place that supports young people. Regulations on hate speech, especially online, should be much more thorough and restrictive
– she added.
Smartphone ban in schools?
According to Barbara Nowacka, she was asked whether children should be banned from having smartphones in kindergartens and grades 1 to 3 of primary school.
There is no basis for saying that Polish society and parents are ready for a strict ban, but they are certainly ready to fight the problem of childhood addiction together. Kindergarten should be analog. The same should apply to grades 1 to 3. Research shows that the impact of smartphone use on educational progress is insignificant, but it is true that it has a huge impact on the increase in peer violence, including violence against teachers.
– she said.
According to an MP from the Citizens’ Coalition, the number of schools closed due to flooding is decreasing.
30 schools were closed, and about 20 will be closed today
– she inquired.
