The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak, said that – at the request of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and after consultation with the Prime Minister – he had decided to suspend part of the powers of the mayors of Stronie Śląskie and Lądek-Zdrój. He appointed Brigadier General Michał Kamieniecki for crisis management in these two municipalities.
At the meeting of the crisis management team, Siemoniak informed about the decisions taken – as he said – in connection with the “need to radically improve administrative activities” in the municipalities of Stronie Śląskie and Lądek-Zdrój.
Decision to suspend some of the powers
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration said that – at the request of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, after consultation and the recommendation of the prime minister – he had decided “to suspend part of the powers of both mayors, in accordance with the law.”
This concerns crisis management and measures to eliminate the consequences of flooding
– he noted.
After consultation with the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, I appointed Brigadier General Michał Kamieniecki as the person who will carry out tasks in this regard in these two municipalities.
– he added.
Kamieniecki “represents the government”
At the same time, the minister noted that “he is not a commissioner within the meaning of the Municipal Self-Government Act, but someone who is expected to assist in effective governance.”
He also appealed to officials and employees of both municipalities “for absolute compliance within the scope specified in the decision and order of Brigadier General Kamieniecki.” He added that Kamieniecki “represents the government” and that his only task is to effectively help people.
Mayors will return to their full duties when we decide that this is the time
– informs the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.
Dramatic attraction. ‘The services are on the doorstep’
This is a response to a dramatic appeal from a resident of Stronie Śląskie.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear Prime Minister. This city is not ready for crisis management. The city government is not ready for crisis management. We need specialists here who can manage the crisis
– the resident of Stronie Śląskie emphasized.
Services are on the doorstep and don’t know what to do because no one is managing them. Residents are fighting for their rights, but many services are sitting because they don’t know what to do. We want to ask local governments not to be afraid to admit that they can’t handle it. They are cut off from the world, they can’t communicate, the phones don’t work and the internet doesn’t work
– she reported.
Please send someone here who is involved in crisis management. Who can tell the services what to do, where to go, how to help, because there is simply chaos here
– added a resident of Stronie Śląskie.
