National Security Bureau chief Jacek Siewiera said Wednesday he has no plans or willingness to run for president, calling speculation about him as a potential presidential candidate damaging.
Considering the amount of work I have now in this position (as head of the National Security Bureau – PAP), I see how it changes the life of a person, of the whole family, what a burden it is, I have neither the desire nor the plan today.
— Siewiera said on RMF FM when asked if he would run for president.
In June, an IBRiS survey was published for “Rzeczpospolita”, which concerned the expected support for potential candidates in the upcoming presidential elections. The candidates were divided into two camps: the ruling coalition camp and the right-wing camp. In the latter camp, among others, the potential candidate was named: head of the National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera.
Opinion poll
Possible support for Siewiera was also asked about possible support for Siewiera in the September IBRiS poll for Onet, and due to the uncertainty over the PiS candidate, respondents to the survey were given a list of names in three variants to choose from (variant I – former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki II – former head of the Ministry of National Defence Mariusz BÅ‚aszczak, III – President of the Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki).
In each variant, the other candidates were: Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski (PO); Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia (Poland 2050 – Third Way); Sławomir Mentzen (Confederation); Deputy Speaker of the Senate Magdalena Biejat (left wing) and Jacek Siewiera (head of the National Security Bureau).
Depending on the variant, Siewiera could count on: 4.1 percent; 7.6 percent and 7.3 percent of the votes, according to the research.
