Teresa Ribera: from “water minister” to European government heavyweight

Desde que en 2018 comenzó a dirigir el Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y Reto Demográfico, los enfrentamientos de la socialista Teresa Ribera (Madrid, 1969) con el sector agrario de la provincia alicantina han sido una constante, especialmente en lo referente a los recortes del trasvase Tajo-Segura, lo que le ha valido para ser conocida como la “ministra del agua”. Los regantes han denunciado de ella cuestiones como que su gestión ha sido deplorable y perjudicial para la agricultura alicantina o que ha dañado de forma grave al sector. Estos episodios no han cercenado la carrera de Ribera fuera de las fronteras españolas, como lo confirma el hecho de que la presidenta de la Comisión Europea, Ursula von der Leyen, la ha propuesto como vicepresidenta ejecutiva de Transición Limpia, Justa y Competitiva, así como responsable de la cartera de Competencia.
