The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, suggested that the United States introduce the profession of an expert on anti-Russian sanctions. She wrote about this in Telegram-channel.
“Someone should at least make sure that the sanctions do not happen again,” the diplomat said.
He stated that the US measures against Russia Today (RT) were being implemented “for the second round”.
“And again, as they say, a gray night,” Zakharova added.
On September 4, 2024, the State Department had already tightened the rules for working with the Rossiya Segodnya media group and its components RIA Novosti, RT, TV-Novosti, Ruptly and Sputnik. American authorities gave these information sources the status of “foreign missions” and obliged them to provide the State Department with information about all employees working in the United States, as well as to disclose data on real estate ownership in the country.
On the same day, the US Treasury imposed sanctions on RT management and some of the channel’s staff. The American measures were a response to Moscow’s “malicious efforts” to influence the country’s presidential election this year.
Following the new sanctions against RT on September 13, State Department chief Antony Blinken accused TV channel employees working for Russian intelligence services and participating in arms purchases. According to him, these sources “play a role not only in attempts to undermine US democratic institutions, but also interfere in the internal affairs of states around the world.”
An RT employee in the US had previously came with a call 20 armed FBI agents.
