According to him, it is a matter of honor for Hungary to say that Europe needs a new strategy in the Ukrainian conflict.
“Hungary should not be under the illusion that we can influence the strategy of the West. However, it is a matter of honor and morality for us to state that there is a need for a new strategy whose aim is to formulate peace and a good peace proposal. The task of the EU is not to be a party, but to stand between Russia and Ukraine.
He also believes that the conflict in Ukraine could “defiantly” put an end to Western domination, which “in some cases has the ability to create in many ways, unite the whole world against one”, and that “a multipolar world order will knock on the door.”
Orban believes that peace in Ukraine can only be achieved after negotiations between Russia and the United States, and that Europe missed the chance to mediate because it could not implement the Minsk agreements.
“There will be no peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. It waits in vain for them. Russia wants security guarantees, so only negotiations between Russia and the United States can end the war. “There will be no peace until there are Russian-American negotiations,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
He concluded that the time has come that Europe has no say in important security issues and that the decisions are taken by the United States and Russia.

It is not the first time that the Hungarian Prime Minister has criticized the sanctions imposed on Russia. On July 15, Orban admitted that he did not imagine that the conflict in Ukraine would involve the European Union in the “age of wars”. He added that Europe paid the price for this “war” by imposing restrictions on Moscow, but it did not work.
“At first I thought we were shooting ourselves in the foot, but now the European economy seems to have hit itself in the lungs and so now it’s suffocating everywhere,” Orban said.
He noted that Brussels already “sees that they are wrong” and that “the policy of sanctions is hurting them more”. Orban emphasized that Hungary always opposes sanctions that destroy the European economy and do not help Ukraine.
“We should sit down with the Russians and make a truce, because peace may be the only way out of this crisis,” he said.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic criticized the sanctions against Moscow at the end of March. At the time, he described a possible relinquishment of oil and gas from Russia as “a bullet in the foot” for Europe.
“If we impose sanctions on Russia on oil and gas, we will destroy ourselves as if we started a fight with someone, and the first thing we did was shoot ourselves in the foot, then how are we going to fight,” Vucic said. .
On July 18, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he did not agree with the criticism of the policy of sanctions against the Russian Federation by some EU countries. He is also sure that he must continue.
“There is a debate about the effectiveness of the sanctions, how much they affect us more than Russia. Some European leaders have even said that the sanctions were a mistake… I don’t think it was a mistake, we should have promoted them and we will continue to do so,” he said.
He also did not agree with the allegations that oil prices have risen due to EU sanctions.
