Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in a meeting with representatives of the countries of the Arab League, said that Russia will help Ukrainians get rid of the “absolutely anti-people and anti-historical regime”, and from now on both peoples will continue to live together.

“We feel sorry for the Ukrainian people, who deserve much better. We feel sorry for those who have succumbed to the history of Ukraine, which is crumbling before our eyes, to those who have succumbed to the Kyiv regime’s state propaganda aimed at making Ukraine an eternal enemy of Russia, and to those who support it.”

In his opinion, such attempts will be in vain.

“The Russian and Ukrainian people will continue to live together. We will definitely help the Ukrainian people get rid of the regime that is absolutely anti-popular and anti-historical,” he said.

Lavrov said earlier that Moscow accepts the possibility of maintaining a wider range of dialogue, but it all depends on the attitude of the Ukrainian authorities.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly described Russians and Ukrainians as one person. Therefore, in the article “On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians”, he expressed confidence that “the real sovereignty of Ukraine is possible precisely in partnership with Russia”. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Putin also confirmed his thesis. “I will never give up the belief that the Russians and Ukrainians are one people,” he said.

About regime change in Kiev

In May, Lavrov said Russia was not a target for regime change in Ukraine, it was more “American expertise”.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can “bring peace” if he gives “criminal orders” to the army, orders the release of civilians and stops the resistance.

Lavrov said in an interview on July 20 that if Western countries continue to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, then Geographical tasks of the Russian army will expand.

“This is far from just DPR and LPR, but also the Kherson region, the Zaporozhye region and a number of other regions, and this process continues and continues consistently and persistently,” the minister said.

According to him, Moscow cannot allow “the part of Ukraine that Zelensky will control” to have weapons that pose a threat to Russian territory, the DPR and the LPR.

“As for the special military operation and the geographical coordinates, the president said very clearly, as you have quoted: de-denazification, disarmament – in the sense that there is no threat to our security, no military threats from Ukrainian soil, this mission continues,” he stated.

In response, Zelensky urged the West not to let the conflict freeze.

The president believes that if Ukraine signed a ceasefire agreement with Russia that put parts of Ukrainian territory under Moscow’s control, it would trigger a larger conflict.

“Freezing the conflict with the Russian Federation means a pause that gives the Russian Federation a breather to rest,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Russia said it would not use the pause to change direction in geopolitics or to relinquish its “claims on the former Soviet republics”.

Ukrainian grain exports

Commenting on the solution of the problem with Ukrainian grain exports from the blocked ports, Lavrov said that along with Russia and Turkey, the ships carrying food in the Black Sea will be accompanied by another participant to be determined later.

“We were able to reach an agreement in Istanbul: Ukraine is clearing mines, launching ships on the high seas, Russia, Turkey and another participant to be determined will accompany the ship to the Bosphorus,” said the Foreign Minister.

He also noted that the Russian-UN memorandum, signed simultaneously with the agreements signed in Istanbul, “forced the UN Secretary-General to initiate the process, persuade Western countries and ensure that they decided to lift all restrictions on Russian exports.” grain.
