Despite Kinga Rusin’s years of living abroad, the journalist remains interested in Polish domestic affairs. In her latest Instagram post, she unexpectedly criticized Donald Tusk’s government for not taking sufficient measures to protect nature.
Journalist and activist known for her radical views on nature conservation and so-called animal rights, expressed her frustration on social media over what she sees as the inadequate actions of Tusk’s government in stopping logging.
Rusin referred to statistics in her submission, but did not include anything specific about this: neither a footnote nor a link.
The Coalition of October 15 is abandoning us, that is, its voters, when it comes to protecting Polish nature, and especially Polish forests. Later data and circumstances that come to light seem to confirm this. Statistics show that Poland sent much more wood to China this year than last year, although a reduction in both draconian logging and export of Polish wood was announced!
– wrote Kinga Rusin on Instagram.
Bizarre arguments
In her style, she attacked the previous government, suggesting that it had destroyed Poland’s forests, of which Rusin said the Białowieża Forest was the prime example.
I hope that those in power will come to their senses. We have (and still have) hope in you when it comes to saving the Polish forests, including the Białowieża Forest, after the destruction of PiS. I still believe that you will take action (the sooner the better), and not that you were just “full of phrases” before the elections
– she noted.
Kinga Rusin rightly noted that forests are a special national treasure, but her indication of the value of 1 percent of forests, which are protected, is questionable. How he pointed out “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” it is no longer possible to obtain wood from 9 to 13 percent. Polish forests, and the forest cover of Poland itself – according to statistics of the State Forests – increases.
Polish forests are our national treasure, and protected areas are only ONE (!) percent of the country’s surface! Therefore, the Ministry cannot accept the plans of the State Forestry Service and the Institute for Environmental Protection (sic!) to expand (!!!) the logging areas in Białowieża, which could result in the destruction of even 300-year-old logging areas. Priceless oaks!
– wrote Rusin.
There was also a photo from the US in which a Russian woman, posing near a tree, apparently wanting to spread the scent of the West where she so conspicuously resides to the Poles, claims that in Poland no one takes the issue of forest protection seriously – unlike the Americans.
Ps 2. In the photo I am one of the giants of Redwood National Park. Without the fight to protect the incredible sequoias, this natural wonder we just admired in Northern California would not exist today. There were real battles between loggers and conservationists here. Fortunately, a wise government not only placed this area under strict protection, but also bought huge swaths of land that had previously been cut down to rebuild the forest. This was in the 1970s. You can see how these places are being revived, but it will take at least 250 years for a complete restoration. The trees that were saved are… 3,000 (!) years old! And they are gigantic! Here stands the tallest tree in the world, Hyperion, over a hundred meters high. Sure, many people wanted to cut it down, so now the exact spot where it grows is hidden in the middle of the park
– the journalist concluded.

It is a pity that Rusin, blindly looking at the West and the US as the determining factor for all standards, did not realize that already in the time of the Polish People’s Republic the state pursued a policy of buying land, for example, the buffer zone of the Kampinos forest, and then afforesting the acquired land and preparing it for the recultivation of native species. Sufficient evidence of this are the villages of Kampinos, which fell into disrepair, but still testify to how the forest has grown at the expense of the poor agricultural land in the area. This policy continues.
Well, Donald Tusk has raised a whole bunch of smart “intellectuals” who brought him to power, and now they have to ignore him because they have forgotten his former face – a pragmatist who ruthlessly uses different social groups for his own purposes.
