“This is a man who has been trained by the Russian services to also remember, so when he reads the materials of this investigation, he has knowledge of who conducted the investigation, who was involved in these activities, and what the procedures of the Polish counterintelligence service looked like,” Stanisław Żaryn said on Telewizja wPolsce24, adviser to President Andrzej Duda.
Żaryn stressed that the government led by Donald Tusk “focuses too much on political revenge.”
We are clearly dealing with a team that is so focused on political revenge that it can admit into its circles and management positions people who should never have been allowed to hold management positions in the state. If you look at the actions of the government, these people are so focused on detecting some alleged political crimes that they simply do not remember various things. They cannot guarantee the security of our country. This case is absolutely scandalous on many levels. We must ask who participated in the negotiations with the American side on behalf of the Polish government, and what was the information management like in this case? According to information from the prosecutor’s office, Rubtsov received access to the investigation files on July 16, and two weeks later he was already in the Kremlin. This is an absolutely inexplicable situation
– he said.

“He spied while in prison.”
He added that Rubtsov’s knowledge of the files is very dangerous for Polish counterintelligence services.
This is a man who has been trained by the Russian services to remember, so when he reads the materials of this investigation, he knows who conducted the investigation, who was involved in these activities, and what the procedures were. All this will now allow the Russian services to recreate information about people who are active in the Polish counterintelligence service and about the methods used by the Polish services. The Russians collect data not only on Polish officers of the intelligence services, but also on uniformed services and soldiers serving on the border with Belarus. Now they have received data on Polish counterintelligence agents who were or were involved in the investigation against Rubcow
– he added.
Loss of trust
An adviser to President Andrzej Duda said Polish counterintelligence officers should receive special protection.
These are people who should be subjected to certain preventive measures. We should be aware that the Russians are collecting information about Polish officers who are engaged in security-sensitive matters. The Polish government, through its incompetence, has ensured that the Kremlin learns more about the people who serve in the Polish military counterintelligence service, and it also knows more about the structure of this formation. While in prison and under arrest, Rubtsov continued his activities with the permission of the Polish government. It is the government, and in particular Donald Tusk, who is responsible for these matters and who personally supervises the Polish secret services. Rubtsov certainly passed on everything he remembered, and I assume he remembered a lot, because that is why Russia sent him around the world. All of this has now found its way to Russian intelligence. We have said from the beginning that Mr Rubtsov is an extremely dangerous GRU agent, and we have said from the beginning that this is an international matter. It is questionable whether Rubtsov read the materials of our allies, which were very important in this case
– he pointed out.
Stanisław Żaryn noted that the Rubcow case could have a negative impact on relations between the Polish services and the services of NATO allies.
This matter will translate into confidence in the Polish services of the Allies. Unfortunately, we can expect that this matter will mean that we will no longer receive sensitive material between Polish and Allied services
– he said.
