The Confederation wants the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, to be recognized as persona non grata in Poland. This concerns his statement during the Poland of the Future Campus about ‘Ukrainian territories’. According to the MPs of the Confederation, Kułeba’s words were “shameful”.
During the meeting with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, the participants of Campus Polska Przyszłości asked the Ukrainian diplomat, among other things: about difficult historical issues that divide our countries.
In response, Kułeba pointed out that the Campus participants meet in Olsztyn, where the Ukrainian population was resettled in 1947 as part of Operation “Vistula”.

– said Kułeba to the person who asked the question.
But that’s not what I’m talking about. If we were to dig into history today, the quality of the conversation would be completely different and we would be able to go very deep into history and remember the bad things that the Poles did to the Ukrainians and the Ukrainians did to the Poles.
– replied Kułeba, who called for building the future together and leaving history to historians.

Politics from a position of strength
Confederation MP Michał Wawer said that Kułeba’s words are the “last call” to the Polish government to start a policy that “the Ukrainians respect” – that is, “power politics” based on making deals.
If Ukraine wants and needs something, it should not refuse it, but demand respect for Polish national interests in return
– he emphasized.
He added that changes in foreign policy should start with recognizing the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as persona non grata.
MP Płaczek said that – in his opinion – “someone who said such shameful words in Poland should never be allowed to speak in public again.”
The worst thing is that during this event, when these words were spoken, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, was sitting next to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and did nothing – he did not react.

Ukraine necessarily in the EU?
When asked about the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who said in July that Ukraine cannot be admitted to the European Union until Warsaw and Kiev resolve the issue of the Volhynian massacre, Confederation politicians stated that such remarks do not translate into a change in Poland’s policy towards Ukraine.
Kosiniak-Kamysz’s statement actually suggests that we want Ukraine to become part of the EU
– said Placzek.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today, in response to journalists’ questions, that he would like “what is controversial in terms of Polish-Ukrainian relations” not to be an alibi for anyone who shows “pro-Russian tendencies” – even if they are present in Poland “marginally.” He admitted that he had an “unambiguous negative assessment of what the Ukrainian minister said.” As he added, Ukraine will have to meet Polish expectations in any case – not so much about digging into history, but about regulating our relations on the basis of the truth about this history.
The head of the Polish government also announced that he would explain “increasingly clearly”, especially during the Polish presidency of the EU Council (in the first half of 2025), that it is in Kiev’s interests to regulate Polish-Ukrainian relations.
So we need to delve into this history if we want to build a good future
– Tusk concluded.
Deputy Minister of State Assets Jacek Bartmiński (Poland 2050) judged in an interview with PAP that the historical policies of Poland and Ukraine differ in their approach or interpretation of facts.
Finally, Ukraine will have to accept interpretations arising from European and global legislation on genocide
– he emphasized.
He added that Poland’s priority at the moment is to defend the integrity of Ukraine and its independence.
All other issues are important, they are the subject of conversations and disputes, but during the war they take a backseat
