The state of the coalition is good, a strong four, maybe even a plus, said the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, after the meeting of the coalition leaders on the budget. He stressed that this was the beginning of the talks, and that the coalition leaders should decide “on the most serious contradictions”. “I am confident that we will decide”, he added.
On Monday evening, the leaders of the ruling coalition and ministers took part in the informal Council of Ministers, dedicated to the draft budget for 2025. Last Friday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that, among other things, a meeting was scheduled for Monday. with Szymon Hołownia, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Włodzimierz Czarzasty and all ministers to discuss the budget for 2025, will discuss the project on Wednesday.

According to the Speaker of the Sejm, it was “a very good conversation.”
This is the beginning of the talks, because they stayed there among the ministers and will probably be there until late in the evening, and tomorrow morning from… 7.30 a meeting of the Minister of Finance with ministers. (…) Another round on Wednesday and of course we, as leaders of political parties, will have to sit around the table at the end and ultimately decide on the biggest contradictions and problems, but I am convinced that we will decide
– said Marshal Hołownia on TVN24.
End of the meeting
Okay. Time. At 21:30, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, announced on the X platform that Monday’s meeting had ended.
We are at the point where the ministers are showing what else we can try to fit into this budget, knowing that there is an excessive deficit procedure and that we will probably pay about PLN 100 billion a year in interest on the debts of our predecessors. This is a huge amount of money, the country is heavily in debt because of it
– said Hołownia on Monday evening.
As he said, there are also certain priorities.
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the Prime Minister will talk about it. There will be an absolute record level of defense spending in the next budget – a level that is incomparable with anything we see in NATO today. At the cost of our sacrifices
– said Marshal Hołownia.
We would like and dream of doing many good things for each of these percentages of GDP in times of peace, but circumstances are as they are. We will not have these good things if we cannot defend ourselves
– notes the Speaker of the Sejm and Leader of Poland 2050.
According to Hołownia, he presented two priorities of his party during Monday’s informal meeting.
This is money for social housing, which we desperately need, and for freezing energy prices in the long term, to prevent inflation from rising further, while at the same time implementing the energy transformation.
– he said.
The Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański, seems to have included in the draft budget that from January 1 there will be no more health insurance premiums for fixed assets. We are selling a machine and there is no reason to pay health insurance premiums for it. It was the absurdity of the ‘Polish Order’
– said the Speaker of the Sejm, adding that more than PLN 4 billion has been earmarked for “assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises”.
He also noted that the topic of the talks will be the issue of the so-called zero percent loan. As he reiterated, his party does not agree with this solution: “the problem of housing in Poland is the supply of apartments, their number, and not their demand,” and such a loan “does not build up the supply.”
The state of the coalition is good, I would call it a very strong four, maybe even a plus
– summarized Marshal Hołownia.
