At a press conference, Szymon Hołownia was asked about the case of mass fish deaths in the Gliwice Canal in the context of his statement two years ago, in which he demanded government intervention in a similar situation. In response, Hołownia attacked the journalist and then blamed PiS, which had been out of power for more than nine months, for the current ecological disaster.
I will be sure, and two years ago you also asked us where the government was, when the Oder was dying, if you were not on board with us when we were worried about what was happening to the Polish river after so many years of PiS rule – sheep and Solidarna Polska in Polish waters? Were you with us then?
– said Szymon Hołownia, attacking a journalist from TV Republika who asked him a question about the situation on the Oder.
Mr Speaker, I asked you a question…
— the journalist responded to the words of the Speaker of the Sejm.
I will be happy to answer them, but I want to know how deep your concern is, how deeply it penetrates into the history of what happened to Odra. It must be said clearly that it was not this government that contributed to the disaster on the Odra, but those who previously allowed state giants, led by nepots who were staffed there by the previous team, to drain brine from large industrial plants that pollute the Odra.
– said Hołownia.
Measles were systematically poisoned for years and nothing was done about it. Today we are trying to deal with this catastrophe in every possible way. New experimental technologies are being introduced to deal with what is happening, with fish deaths, and fortunately they are proving effective in many places. However, attempts are also being made to systematically cure the situation. This is, above all, a thorough reform of Polish waters. This will ensure that state-owned companies, like all other companies, will have water and legal permits written in such a way that no one thinks of polluting Polish rivers and lakes every year.
– he added.
“This is one of the things that concerns us the most.”
Hołownia presented herself as a person deeply concerned about the ecological disaster on the Oder.
This is one of the things that worries us the most, including me as a person who is concerned about the state of the environment in Poland. I regularly ask Minister Hennig-Kloska and the people responsible for Polish Waters whether we are doing enough and fast enough.
– he said.
It is interesting that this time Szymob Hołownia does not demand that the prime minister speak in any way about the ecological disaster on the Oder. Apparently, the point of view depends on the seat.
