More than 111 tons of dead fish have already been caught from just one lake, Dzierżno Duże. Meanwhile, Donald Tusk is still silent about the ecological catastrophe, which has been growing dangerously in recent days. However, PiS politicians are speaking loudly about the issue and drawing attention to the hypocrisy of the current government and part of the media, because when a similar situation occurred on the Oder River in 2022, these people and the media sounded the alarm.
Has Donald Tusk already returned from his hard work and finally tackled the issue of ecological catastrophe? Does this ‘scary thought’ of sitting on Wiejska still haunt him and are the affairs of Poland and Poland being sidelined?
The dead fish issue perfectly illustrates not only the state of Polish politics (Marshal Zgorzelski and the “PiS story”, which turned out to be his words two years ago), but especially the media. I remember the hysteria at the time, the indignation that Minister @moskwa_anna had a few days off, and the general pandemonium. Every minister in the TV studio was obliged to explain the insufficiently quick reaction (it probably took 6-7 days for the case to be dealt with by the ministry, previously this was done by lower-level services). This summer the reaction was very restrained and nuanced: the problem was noted, but not overly enthusiastic. And so it goes…
What’s going on here @hennigkloska? Why is there no info about the next place?
“This is what the reservoir in the center of Kazimierz Wielka looks like, a lot of dead fish…” – and today @hennigkloska said that the bad situation occurred only in Dzierżno Duży. Is it no longer the state that is responsible for the extinction of fish two years after the Oder?
This is the moment when you can implement all the tips from the 2022 statement.
What is happening in Odra shows us, as if through a lens, the hypocrisy of the team that unfortunately governs Poland today. During the PiS government they shouted that it was the end of the world, that everything was our fault, and today? Today the situation is much more serious and they say that nothing terrible is happening. Liars and hypocrites.
More than 111 tons of dead fish were found in the Gliwice Canal
Silesian Voivode Marek Wójcik announced the extension of the ban on using Lake Dzierżno Duże and Section IV of the Gliwice Canal for another week, that is, until August 26, 2024.
The ban on the use of Dzierżno Duży and section IV of the Gliwice Canal was introduced due to high concentrations of golden algae and massive fish mortality. The Provincial Crisis Management Centre in Katowice reported on Monday that over 111 tonnes of dead fish had been recovered there since the beginning of the month.
The action to eliminate the effects of the golden algae bloom on the Dzierżno Duże Lake is still ongoing. Therefore, the ban on the use of this water is extended for another week
– said Wojcik.
The activities in Dzierżno Duży mainly consist of catching dead fish and creating suitable conditions for those still living in the lake. Sorption barriers made of barley straw were placed to limit the passage of golden algae together with water to section IV of the Gliwice Canal and further to the Kłodnica River.
