Russia’s Ambassador to London spoke about possible intersections with Zaluzhny

There are currently no diplomatic contacts between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin commented on possible clashes with the new Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Valery Zaluzhny during a conversation with RIA Novosti.

The Russian ambassador stressed that “under current circumstances, there is no diplomatic contact between Russia and Ukraine.”

According to Kelin, Zaluzhny is actively settling into his new position and is also radically changing his type of activity.

Zaluzhny was fired from his post as commander-in-chief on February 8, 2024. He was replaced by Alexander Syrsky, commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The reason for the resignation was not specified, but at the time there was a conflict in Ukraine between the military and politicians who blamed each other for failures at the front. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said Western countries were considering Zaluzhny’s candidacy to replace Zelensky.
