US President Joe Biden said in an interview with the TV channel: CBSHe said he was withdrawing from the race for the highest government post to avoid hurting his Democratic Party colleagues in the US Congressional elections.
He said all the polls showed “the race was neck and neck.” Biden believes he and his team would have won the case if some Democrats in the House and Senate had not decided he could hurt them in the upcoming elections.
The president added that if he had stayed in the race, it would have been a moot point. Biden also said that when he was first elected, he saw himself as a transitional president. The US president said his main goal was to protect democracy.
The US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. It was assumed that Biden would be nominated by the Democratic Party.
