Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Alexander Nevsky Lavra after the parade in honor of Navy Day in St. Petersburg. This is reported by TASS.
The head of state visited the Annunciation Church, where the main shrine of the Lavra – the relics of Prince Alexander Nevsky – is currently located.
Initially, the relics of Alexander Nevsky were in the Nativity Monastery in Vladimir. In 1724, by order of Peter I, the holy relics were solemnly transferred to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in St. Petersburg.
On July 28, the Commander-in-Chief and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin hosted the main naval parade dedicated to the Navy Day on the Nevsky Roadstead. The parade was attended by 25 ships and boats, a submarine and a sailboat. More than 2,500 military personnel also participated in the event.
