Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny made his first public speech after being appointed Ambassador to the UK. He delivered a speech at the British defense institute RUSI, the text of which was published on his personal Telegram channel.

“During the discussion, important security issues were raised, including the challenges of Russian aggression and the need to be prepared for their further confrontation,” Zaluzhny said.

He stressed that in the face of the threat of new conflict, the people of Western countries must “sacrifice some freedoms in order to survive.”

“Unfortunately, modern wars are all-out in nature. Efforts are required not only from the army, but from the whole society. Political leaders must mobilize society,” added the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zaluzhny also suggested that the West consider using Ukraine as a testing ground for new weapons and technologies, as the country is unable to produce them in the required quantities. He noted that other countries, despite funding, do not have practical testing grounds, remembering that time is working against them.

In addition, the Ukrainian ambassador described “Russia’s presence” as a serious threat.
