“Zbigniew Ziobro trusted us. He did not interfere – as Giertych and Mraz wrongly claim – with my decisions on subsidies awarded to non-governmental organizations,” – says Marcin Romanowski in the weekly “Do Rzeczy”.
Marcin Romanowski refers to allegations of alleged interference by Zbigniew Ziobro in the activities of the Justice Fund.
It is a myth created by Giertych that the Fund was the apple of the eye of the Minister of Justice. His priority was legislation, the prosecution service and the situation in the judiciary. He responded to undue interference by the CJEU and the European Commission and supervised subsequent reform projects. (…) In this situation, FS was only sporadically interested. I was the one who supervised these things. Moreover, he gave all his deputies a lot of freedom. He trusted us. He did not interfere – as Giertych and Mraz wrongly claim – with my decisions on subsidies awarded to non-governmental organizations. (…) Yes, it happened that he initiated some tasks. He initially paid more attention to some of them, for example, the program for assistance to victims of traffic accidents in a coma, which is now managed by the Budzik Clinic, or the support program for the volunteer fire brigade.
– say.
It also happened that some competition results caused mixed feelings for the minister. Nevertheless, he never interfered with the course and results of competitions that had already started. Therefore, the laborious attempt to connect Zbigniew Ziobro with the proposals formulated by the competition committees in specific cases and the decisions ultimately taken is a clear lie.
– he adds.
Referring to the minister
When asked about the alleged handling of SF subsidies by the Minister of Justice himself, Romanowski replied:
Fairy tales made of moss and ferns. Invoking the minister is a common method of disciplining employees, and I was no exception. Of course, people came to him with ideas. Representatives of civil society organizations and politicians. He was a minister to meet and get to know different initiatives. Like me, many people came to me with ideas. When they seemed valuable to him, he passed them on for further evaluation. Of course, within the possibilities of the Fund and to the extent permitted by law. But at a later stage, that is, when the competition procedure had already been initiated, he did not interfere in the matters, especially not in the outcome of the competition.
