““Let me remind you that the EPP, from which German politician Ursula von der Leyen comes, has been in power for many years,” Marcin Przydacz, a member of parliament from Law and Justice, said on Telewizja wPoland.
Telewizja w Polsce reporter Maciej Zemła asked Polish politicians in the Sejm to comment on the EP’s election of Ursula von der Leyen for a second term as head of the European Commission.
As expected, the attitude towards the election of Ursula von der Leyen is ambiguous and reflects the lines of political division in Poland. The coalition of 13 December is very satisfied with the new, old head of the European Commission, while the opposition brings forward the threats of her election.
I am glad that the champagne corks did not explode in the Kremlin. The result was entirely in line with expectations
– said PO member Andrzej Halicki.
We are absolutely happy. The EPP supported Mrs Ursula von der Leyen because this is a guarantee of stability and security. This is a very good sign of good policy for Poland and Europe.
– said PO member Marta Wcisło.
What about the Green Deal?
In the context of von der Leyen’s election for a second term in the European Commission, there is much talk about the future of Green Deal policies. PiS MP Paweł Sałek noted that the Green Party could have a huge influence on the future European Community, even though it will likely be formed by Socialists and the EPP.
The arithmetic of the European Parliament and the number of seats say that the Socialists and the EPP will have influence. However, remember that the Green Party and those associated with them will have a stake in the governance of the EP. By also giving the Green Group an important voice, the Green Deal project will deepen.
– noted Paweł Sałek.
All countries have this problem and I think it will be solved together in a way that does not harm the economy of a particular country. When we talk about eliminating a particular fuel, it is necessary to say what it will be replaced with
– Added Wcisło about the Green Deal.
PiS MP Przydacz said little will change in the EU as the people who have been in charge of Brussels for the past few years remain at the helm of power.
This is a deception of Polish public opinion. I would like to remind you that the EPP, from which the German politician Ursula von der Leyen comes, has been in power for many years. After all, within the EPP there are both the Civic Coalition and the PSL, and for the past five years they have not been able to push through anything that would be important from the point of view of our interests.
– noted Marcin Przydacz.
