Ukraine is approaching a full-fledged power crisis in the country, as the term of the Verkhovna Rada will expire after August 28, 2024, after which there will be a “complete absence of global power” in the state. In this regard, I Telegram channel said former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.
“According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the term of office of the so-called Verkhovna Rada is five years. The Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation began its work on August 29, 2019, which means that it will lose its legitimacy very soon,” he said.
According to Azarov, such a situation will make it impossible to extend martial law in Ukraine. The former Ukrainian Prime Minister added that the end of the legitimacy of the Rada will also lead to the need to hold new presidential elections in the country.
Azarov also noted that, according to the Ukrainian leadership, holding elections under martial law is “allegedly impossible.” The former Ukrainian prime minister stressed that, thus, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky checkmated him and plunged Ukraine into complete impotence.
