Statements that the European Union would produce 10 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen are “too ambitious”, according to an analysis by the European Court of Auditors.
This is what ideology looks like compared to reality
– writes Daniel Obajtek, Member of the European Parliament for Law and Justice, on the X website.
The European Court of Auditors has sharply criticised the Commission’s hydrogen strategy: ‘The Commission did not carry out a rigorous analysis before setting EU targets for the production and import of renewable hydrogen. The Commission set overly ambitious targets for the production and import of renewable hydrogen, namely 10 million tonnes each by 2030. These targets were not based on a sound analysis, but were driven solely by political will.’
– the politician quotes the tribunal’s opinion and adds:
And as usual, European industry and economy had to pay the price for the ideological fairy tales of European bureaucrats. It is time to put an end to the madness, review the green regulations and plan a real transformation.
It is worth noting that an additional difficulty may be the fact that the European Union, unlike China or the United States, is not a leader in renewable hydrogen production.
