South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol will express concerns about increased military cooperation between North Korea and Russia at the NATO summit in the US. The agency reports “Yonhap”.
“We will send a strong signal on military cooperation between Russia and North Korea and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between NATO allies,” first deputy national security adviser Kim Tae-hye said at a briefing.
Earlier, Yun Seok-yeol told Reuters that Russia must choose which of the two Koreas to develop relations with. The president noted that military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang threatened peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in Europe.
The South Korean government will reconsider its position on the supply of lethal weapons to Kiev in response to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by Russia and North Korea on June 19. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Seoul against this step, saying that the supply of weapons would be a mistake. According to him, if South Korea still agrees with him, Moscow will take appropriate decisions that are unlikely to please the current leadership of the republic.
