Today in PAP, the government’s plenipotentiary for the Central Communications Port, Maciej Lasek, tried to explain the turn of Donald Tusk and his government towards the CPK, which outraged a large part of public opinion. “Today Chopin Airport has a completely different function, it is the key to the success of the airport in Baranów and that is how we treat it today. This is a potential for the future CPK,” said Lasek, despite the fact that Donald Tusk refrained from building in Baranów for a long time and the opinion of experts that Okęcie could not be expanded.
Maciej Lasek, who was asked today in the PAP Studio about the supposed possibilities of expanding the CPK, which in its current variant aims to serve 34 million passengers per year, said that it will be adapted to the needs, “up to 60 million passengers “.
Potential future expansion of CPK will be tailored to needs. We have left a reserve with the ability to serve up to 60 million passengers per year
– Maciej Lasek, Deputy Head of the Ministry of FiPR and Plenipotentiary Government Official for the CPK, said this today at the PAP Studio.
It is even planned to add a third runway, but at the moment we do not see that need, but there is a reserve. (…) These 60 million are of course a perspective for many, many years, but on the other hand, the aviation sector entails many risks. Today we do not know what global or European climate policy will look like and what consequences this will have for air traffic
– he said.

A scandalous reversal by Tusk’s government
The government representative for the CPK emphasized that the architectural concept prepared (by the British consortium Foster + Partners and Buro Happold – note from PAP) will be implemented with “minor changes” aimed at adapting the project to current needs , as well as reducing administration and management. airport management costs.
He emphasized that CPK engineers worked with the designer to develop changes that “do not change anything in terms of the external concept and functionality of the building” for users.
Asked whether he guaranteed that the CPK would be established, he replied: “of course.” He added that if the decision to build the airport was negative, it would be communicated directly to the public. When asked if he could directly say that Chopin Airport would be closed after the CPK is transferred, he pointed out that “good solutions are being sought” for Okęcie.
Today Chopin Airport has a completely different function, it is the key to the success of the airport in Baranów and that is how we treat it today. This is a potential for the future CPK
– he assessed.

There will even be a military component!
Despite the constant attacks that Donald Tusk’s circle launched against the CPK when it was in opposition, the modified project will now even include a military component!
In CPK, we plan to establish a zone for a military component. If the Ministry of Defense decides that it has the resources to build such an element, a place for it will be secured
— Maciej Lasek, Deputy Head of the Ministry of FiPR and Plenipotentiary Government Official for the CPK, said in the PAP Studio.
Lasek in the PAP Studio asked whether the construction of the CPK included the so-called military component, answering that, after studying the documentation prepared during the PiS government, she judged that “it was more of a PR element than something real”.
We are planning a zone for a military component at this airport, but we are not building it. If the Ministry of Defense decides that it has the resources to build such an element, a place for it will be secured
– he said.
The government representative for the CPK emphasized that the infrastructure prepared as part of the CPK, including the road infrastructure around the airport, will be built “according to the dual-use standard”, that is, both civil and military.
This is all we do and this is exactly what our predecessors talked about
– added.
Lasek noted that each new infrastructure built, both at the central airport and at regional airports, “increases the resilience of the country.”
Today we are also preparing investments that will improve this resilience at other airports as well. The airport in Rzeszów (…), in Krakow, in Wrocław – which will become a NATO hub when it comes to transshipment. NATO chose that airport, far enough away from our potential enemy. In addition, Zielona Góra, but also Szczecin
– he said.

Okęcie especially
Lasek also explained that without the expansion of Okęcie, which, according to many experts, there is no place at all, there is no point in investing in CPK.
There is no point in building a hub airport without LOT; CPK should be a springboard for the development of our national airline. We would like it to be at least twice the size of the airline
— Maciej Lasek, Deputy Head of the Ministry of FiPR and Plenipotentiary Government Official for the CPK, said in the PAP Studio.
We try to look at this program as a whole, that is, not in isolation from the development possibilities of LOT
– emphasized Lasek.
He also assured that he is in constant contact with the President of LOT Polish Airlines, Michał Fijoł, with whom he talks about the airline’s development plans and the creation of synergy between CPK and other airports, which “will influence the development of LOT”.
When asked whether LOT could become one of the largest airlines on the continent thanks to CPK, the CPK government representative replied: “we will try to make it at least twice as big as it is now.” He added that the announced expansion of the fleet to 130-140 aircraft within ten years is realistic, and that the airline itself has an “excellent reputation in the market”, which should be followed by an expansion of the network of connections.
Mysterious analyses
Lasek, when asked by PAP whether he would make public the analyzes of consultancy firms, audits and documents on the basis of which it was decided to build the CPK in its current form, replied that the documents he received “are covered by the trade secret clause”. .”
Consulting firms’ analyzes of CPK are covered by the trade secret clause, but summaries of these results will be prepared for sharing with the public
– announced Maciej Lasek.
We will prepare summaries of these results to share with the public. But today that’s not the most important thing. The bottom line is that it led to the decision, “Yes, we do.” We have managed to solve this project and make it feasible
– he said.
On the note that it might be worthwhile to present a full set of documents to the public, taking into account the accusations from opposition politicians and some media that little had been done for half a year and that the actions were only simulated, he replied: “We will shut the mouths of the doubters even if we continue this project in its repaired form.
Lasek emphasized that there will always be critics who say that something could have been done differently, but, as he emphasized, the most important thing is a positive decision to build the CPK “within a realistic schedule”, as the project was “unfeasible” by the previous government “.
When asked whether the name of the CPK would be changed, the Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy replied that “this is not the most important thing today.”
I’m an engineer, I have to see it through to the end, and we’ll see what it will look like from a Piarist point of view
– added Lasek.
We can name this airport in many different ways. Maybe let people have their say, let the Poles decide what this airport should be called?
– he said, but did not indicate how this would happen.
It really is a stampede of lemmings. If Donald Tusk’s supporters are not discouraged by his downright pathological tendency to “turn the tables” and lie about the CPK, nothing is likely to discourage them.
