Belarus plans to become a member of the SCO in July 12:35

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he hopes his country will become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in July. His words are quoted RIA News.

“It would be very symbolic if Belarus became a full member of the SCO in Astana. We will ask you this, a lot depends on the presidential party,” he said during a meeting with Kazakhstan Ambassador Erlan Baizhanov.

Lukashenko noted that Kazakhstan chairs the CSTO and SCO this year, and the documents regarding Belarus’ membership in the organization were approved in February this year.

Lukashenko also spoke about the “difficult situation in the world”.

“This affects us and our relationships. Threats of sanctions policy, especially from the West, but we must cooperate and find direction without creating problems for Kazakhstan,” the Belarusian leader added.
