What kind of man is this, I cringe in shame. Senator Jerzy Wcisła of the Civic Platform (elected from Elbląg) has been leading a crusade against the Vistula Spit Cutting carried out by PiS for years. Now the Tusk politician announces at a press conference that he will take the former minister to court, because he dug the trench incorrectly and previously reported Wcisła to the Supreme Court of Audit to settle it with the Przekop.
In this Przekop, Wcisła complains about everything, for example that the walls of the canal are made of concrete and that we are “swimming in a gutter”, which means that we cannot see the beautiful pools there. “Too much blood was shed for the Poles during the construction of this waterway,” the senator pontificates. He makes a serious accusation that the project itself has exposed Poland to “quarrels with the European Commission and environmentalists”. Wcisła takes such cases to court.

It is one thing that the Court of the Republic of Poland is absorbed in the senator’s ailments, but the other is even more bizarre. During the construction of Przekop, the senator torpedoed the project for years under various pretexts. In September 2022, he stated that Przekop is an attack on Elbląg and is intended to lead to PiS taking power in the city (a conspiracy!). In July 2018, a PO politician sounded the alarm that PiS did not really want this excavation. A year later he complained that this trench is “idiotic” because it is not related to the investments in the port. In September 2023, the politician argued that “at the moment this investment makes no sense”. The accusation was that the construction of the project was not extended to Elbląg itself, which according to the politician should have been done. And he could be here, but there’s one problem.
Well, Senator Wcisła called for this Przekop twenty years ago. During the first government of Donald Tusk (2007–2011), Wcisła was a staunch supporter of the project and criticized PiS for its slowness, crediting its creation with its formation. But now that his party is in power and, in his opinion, the missing parts of the investment could have been made by his boss’s decision, Wcisła runs through courts and audit offices, almost grabbing a shovel to cover it up. a lot of work that has already been done, instead of doing it yourself. Oh, how easy it is to fight with those who work, and how difficult it is to do something yourself.
