The European People’s Party (EPP) came first in the European Parliament (EP) elections held between 6-9 June. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the legislative body.
The document states that the EPP won 181 out of 720 seats in the regional parliament. One member of this party is Ursula von der Leyen, the current president of the European Commission (EC).
According to the agency, the results of the political union in the 2019 elections were slightly but better. Then EPP representatives took another seat.

In contrast, the right-wing “Identity and Democracy” group and the moderate right-wing group “Conservatives and Reformists” received a total of 133 seats in the EP. Previously, members of these groups held 118 seats in parliament, so their representation in parliament will increase from 16.7% to 18.5% over the next five years. But EP president Roberta Metsola warned that these were only preliminary results and they could still change.
Another 51 seats went to MPs who are not members of official factions, he added. This includes the Alternative for Germany party.
