Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia announced that next week the parliamentarians will hear, among other things: information from Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on the state of state security, followed by a discussion.
What will parliamentarians do?
Today after 10 The Sejm resumed its sessions; MPs include they will listen to information about the causes of the recent fires. They will also continue to work on the draft law on energy vouchers and draft amendments to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens.
The Sejm continues the session it interrupted last Thursday.
Members of the European Parliament will hear information from the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration on the actions taken to explain the causes of fire outbreaks on May 10 and 13 in several places in Poland. In recent days, among other things: a market hall in Warsaw burned down, a sorting plant for waste and building materials in Siekierki in Warsaw was on fire, an unused scrap yard in Łąki (Lower Silesian Voivodeship) was on fire, as well as an illegal hazardous waste dump in Siemianowice Śląskie.
The Sejm will also hold the second reading of the government’s draft amendments to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of that country. It is assumed, among other things: extension of the legality of residence for Ukrainians who have been issued a Pesel UKR number – until September 30, 2025, as well as the linking of payments from next year, among other things. 800 plus with compulsory education for Ukrainian children.
There will also be a second reading of the bill on the temporary limitation of prices for electricity, natural gas and district heating, and on the energy voucher. This stipulates, among other things, that the energy voucher will constitute a one-off monetary benefit, intended for households with lower incomes. There will be two income thresholds: a maximum of PLN 2,500 for single-person households and a maximum of PLN 1,700 per person for multi-person households.
The MPs will also hold the second reading of the government’s bill on supporting parents in professional activities and raising children – “Active Parent”. It presupposes the introduction of three benefits into the legal system to support parents in professional activities and in the upbringing and development of a small child: “active parents at work”, “active parents in daycare” and “active at home”. The same child is only entitled to one of these benefits in a given month.
Voting takes place at the end of the meeting.
Plan for the next meeting
The Marshal of the Sejm announced at a press conference that the Sejm’s preliminary plan for the next sessions had been assessed.
Today we finish the previous session, then next week we have the Sejm, then there will be no Sejm for two weeks and we will come back on June 12 or 13 for the next session.

He added that next week’s Sejm session will not last three days, but two days, because – as he explained – “election campaigns do not serve parliamentarism in its constructive form.”

He said the Sejm would also consider the motion to secretly dismiss two members of the pedophilia committee.
Medical care for starving farmers
At the beginning of the Sejm session, MP Jarosław Sachajko asked government representatives, including the Prime Minister, to meet the farmers protesting in the Sejm. Pointing out that they were starving, he unsuccessfully requested a break in the session until the government met the farmers.
Hołownia said there are currently five or six farmers protesting in the Sejm, who announced on Monday that they would start a hunger protest.
We have sent a medical rescue team who will monitor their health every day – if they agree, as they don’t agree now.

He added that he reiterated the proposal that farmers should stay overnight at the parliamentary hotel. The Sejm chairman added that protesting farmers “are being used by some as walls for taking photos during the election campaign.” Hołownia emphasized that he found this absolutely ethically reprehensible.
Hołownia added that there is also currently a proposal to hold talks with the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, at his request and “under his supervision”.
