Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted at the press conference after the government meeting that the adopted migration pact would be beneficial for our country. “Poland will be a beneficiary of the migration pact. We will not pay for anything, we will not have to accept migrants from other directions, the EU will not impose migrant quotas on us, while Poland will effectively command financial support from the EU due to the fact that it has become a country hosting hundreds of thousands of migrants, mainly from Ukraine” – said Donald Tusk.
At the very beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister referred to the security issues discussed during the government meeting. At the press conference after the government meeting, the Prime Minister said that it started with information from the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Coordinator of Special Services, Tomasz Siemoniak, about the growing threat in Europe and Poland in the context of aggressive attacks. actions of the Russian and Belarusian services.
We have discussed this, among other things. at the European Council. The messages from many European capitals were clear. Before the European Parliament elections, Russia is preparing various forms of interference, including in the election process itself. This is not the first such case, but the scale is becoming larger and more disturbing
– said Tusk.
The Prime Minister noted that both Polish and allied sources indicate that “Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and a small part of Finland” are threatened by such “interferences and direct actions.”
Fires and the border
The Prime Minister assured that there is currently no evidence that the recent serial fires in Poland were the result of the activities of foreign services.
There are no indications that the recent fires are related to the activities of foreign services
– he said.
Over the past twelve weeks, the Polish state, partly thanks to cooperation with allies, has thwarted prepared attempts at such direct actions regarding sabotage and arson attempts.
– added.
He also announced that the government had secured additional resources to support the activities of Polish services.
Today I decided that we will allocate PLN 1,000 million to strengthen the Internal Security Service and the Foreign Intelligence Service
– he pointed out.
He also commented on the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border and emphasized that the government will try to finance and seal the dam.
We need to invest more money in the dam on the Polish-Belarusian border. We have seen a lot of promotion of these activities at the border in recent years, but this barrier does not meet our expectations. The border guard and the army clearly asked me about the need to strengthen the dam. So, in a technical sense, the dam is being strengthened so that it will no longer be possible to bend the bars with a car jack and go to the Polish side.
– he said.
Nowadays, unlike in the past, the border guard and soldiers attach great importance to humanitarian behavior. This of course makes it difficult. (…) I ask everyone to understand and support all those who guard the Polish border
– added the head of government.
A good migration pact?
Donald Tusk received a question about the migration pact adopted by the EU Council.
My government voted against the migration pact and Poland’s position was clear from the start. The migration pact in this form was negotiated during Morawiecki’s government
– Tusk pointed out.
We managed to obtain provisions in the Migration Pact that make it harmless for Poland and we strongly demanded that the Migration Pact be blocked. The Migration Pact, adopted in this form, gives Poland the opportunity to avoid any negative consequences of the Migration Pact. Poland does not accept migrants for this reason
– he added.
According to him, Poland will even be a “beneficiary of the migration pact”, and any inconvenience associated with its solutions will not concern Poland.
Poland will be a beneficiary of the migration pact. We will not pay for anything, we will not have to accept migrants from other directions, the EU will not impose migrant quotas on us, while Poland will effectively command financial support from the EU due to the fact that it has become a country hosting hundreds of thousands of migrants, mainly from Ukraine
– reviewed Donald Tusk.
Green deal
The Prime Minister also commented on the changes made to the European Green Deal policy. He stressed that he was satisfied with the progress made on this issue.
As far as the Green Deal is concerned, I am moderately satisfied. This is the same situation as with the Migration Pact: the Green Deal was the program of PiS, Commissioner Wojciechowski and President Kaczyński, and you have it in your archives – spots, statements, etc. The task of my government from the very beginning was to eliminate from the Green Deal those provisions that harm the interests of Polish agriculture have been removed, and a significant part of these provisions have been achieved
– he said.
I spent hours translating and discussing individual provisions and now we have provisions where most of these concerns were expressed by Polish farmers, there they were eliminated
– added the head of government.
