During the press conference, NSZZ “Solidarity” presented a referendum question on the European Union’s climate policy. ‘S’ wants to collect the necessary number of signatures for a national referendum to ask Poles about the Green Deal. Chairman of the National Commission of NSZZ “S”, Piotr Duda, ruled that the so-called Suitability for 55 is unacceptable. He also assured that Solidarity activists will not give up their actions even if there is no decision to reject the Green Deal.
On March 26, the National Commission of NSZZ “Solidarność” adopted a resolution to apply for a nationwide referendum on EU climate policy. It was also decided to hold a demonstration in Warsaw on May 10.
As Piotr Duda explained, the farmers’ protests have ‘one reason: ‘get rid of the Green Deal’.
Farmers do not agree with the EU’s climate policy, which will lead to the bankruptcy of many agricultural companies and individual farmers. It all leads there
– he assessed.
The chairman of the National Committee of NSZZ “S” pointed out that the December 13 coalition is currently no longer trying to talk to Polish farmers.
Instead of having a dialogue, the government no longer even pretends to have a dialogue – but this dialogue has completely broken down. There is no dialogue. Farmers continue to protest
– he pointed out.
Duda announced that NSZZ “Solidarność” together with “Solidarity” of Individual Farmers are organizing a major protest in Warsaw on May 10.
This is a demonstration and an apolitical protest organized by Solidarity of Workers with the cooperation and co-organization of Solidarity of Individual Farmers
– he explained.
This Fit for 55 policy is unacceptable
– Duda emphasized.
Referendum proposal
On May 10, during the demonstration, we will start collecting signatures for a national referendum
– said the Chairman of the National Committee of NSZZ “S”.
During the press conference, the proposed referendum question was read out.
Do you support the obligation of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Parliament of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the Republic of Poland to reject climate policy in its current form, included in the European Green Deal?
– that is the question.
This question (…) is clear – in this form it is very important – give us more time. Give more time to farmers, miners, steel workers, the auto industry, our entire industry, so we can use it responsibly. First of all, it is about incentives, not coercion and punishment, that I have to replace the stove with another one. If I don’t replace it, you will punish me
– explained Piotr Duda.
