Police searched the apartment of MP Łukasz Mejza in Zielona Góra. The actions were prompted by an order from the public prosecutor’s office, which found that the politician had not mentioned the attic room, which belongs to his apartment, in his asset declaration.
Wirtualna Polska reported on the search of MP Mejza’s apartment. Filing false asset declarations carries a prison sentence of eight years. The case was filed following an article by Wirtualna Polska from December 2023.
We then informed that Łukasz Mejza did not mention in his asset declaration (which was submitted after the start of the new term of office) the real estate belonging to him according to the land and mortgage register.
– reports the website and recalls that the MP submitted the correction of his statement after questions from WP journalists. He then added that he owned a 59 square meter apartment in Zielona Góra.
Anonymous message
After publication, WP journalists received a message from an anonymous informant pointing out that the block in which MP Łukasz Mejza’s property was located was different from the other blocks on the estate. Only one of the five buildings has windows with a view of the roof.
It turned out to be an apartment building where MP Mejza lived on the top floor
– we are reading.
An anonymous informant claims that in addition to the kitchen and two rooms, Mejza’s apartment also has a staircase to the attic, where the building adapted by the MP will be located.
The MP has not filed a complaint
On March 8, police officers from the Zielona Góra police station carried out a search at the request of the Public Prosecution Service. The politician was not at home and the detectives were let in by his partner. Police confirmed that the stairs from Łukasz Mejza’s apartment lead to the attic, where his office, desk and bookcase are located.
The parliamentarian has not filed a complaint against the search.
The material is being analyzed by investigators because it conceals the truth in the asset declaration, which carries a maximum prison sentence of eight years.
“They came with a tape measure and measured the height of the attic.”
MP Mejza posted a message on the X platform in which he describes the situation slightly differently than journalists from Wirtualna Polska, and even ridicules the text about the search.
Dear Sherlock Holmes followers of the Polish-language media! I know it’s a few days before Easter, but someone clearly missed something… We’re coming back to Earth! After 1: There was no “frisk” but the police officers politely and very politely came with… a measuring cup (yes, with a measuring cup). And they measured the height of the attic After 2: When they started measuring, they found out that according to Polish building standards there are no extra square meters there (the attic is too low to count square meters). After 3: What kind of “hiding” from the attic?! ♂️ The total number of square meters of the apartment is stated in the statement (not which rooms it consists of) and I have stated this number of square meters truthfully. After 4: I understand the lust for blood and cheap thrills, but it was March 8 (so it has nothing to do with today’s ABW action – I apologize to the media audience for this disappointment. Sorry). Easter is a time of reconciliation. Therefore, I wish reconciliation to all who spread this nonsense… with good reason.
