“I say it and I repeat it: Ukraine has nothing to do with the terrorist attack in Moscow,” Mychailo Podolak, adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, told Italian daily La Repubblica.
In an interview with a Rome newspaper, Podolak, who rejected Russian accusations of Ukraine’s involvement in Friday’s attack, emphasized: “We are a democracy.”
He also expressed the opinion that there would be an escalation of the conflict on Russia’s side, for example in the area of propaganda.
Putin implements a precise strategy. First of all, he wants to divert attention from the recent mass actions against our country. On March 22, he attacked the Dnieper hydroelectric power station in Zaporizhia with rockets. There’s a dam there. This is another criminal act in front of the world
– he assessed.
Moreover, it is clear that his emphasis on the so-called “Ukrainian clue” serves to explain to his citizens why from now on he will speak directly about the war, and not about a special military operation.
– said Podolak.
““Coalition of Democracy”
My country is part of the coalition of democracies. Ukrainian institutions and power apparatuses reject terrorist methods. And what Putin claims is not true: that the terrorists went here after the massacre. We are a country at war, with soldiers and special forces on both sides, all along the borders. It is impossible to cross them, especially with weapons and a car already identified and wanted by special forces
– explained the adviser to President Zelensky.
According to him, the perpetrators of the terrorist attack were on their way to Belarus.
Furthermore, Podolak said that ignoring the US warning about a possible attack “could be part of a strategy aimed at creating conditions to blame Ukraine.”
Russia is not winning on the ground, so it is trying to put pressure on us and other countries through psychological terrorism. In that sense there will be an escalation. This could be an escalation of propaganda rhetoric. Russia will try to influence our partners to suspend aid
– said an advisor to the Ukrainian president.
