European Union leaders agreed to call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the first time since the conflict began. This was reported by TASS Referring to the EU’s statement at the Middle East summit.

The document states that the call should lead to a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages without preconditions and the provision of humanitarian access to the region.
