Surpluses of lower quality grains should be used for energy production – said the Chairman of the Council for Agriculture and Rural Areas under the President of the Republic of Poland Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, speaking to journalists.
During a meeting with journalists after Thursday’s Council meeting, Ardanowski announced that one of the topics discussed was the issue of withdrawing surplus food from the market. One way, he said, is by increasing exports. According to Ardanowski, this can be done by deploying specialists in Polish diplomatic missions who will deal, among other things, with: initiating and executing commercial contracts between Polish producers and foreign customers. The former Minister of Agriculture emphasized that this mainly concerns small and medium-sized food companies that do not have the resources or appropriate contacts to carry out such transactions.
All embassies of EU countries in Warsaw have extensive agricultural departments that analyze Polish agriculture and its needs and tailor commercial offers.
– said Ardanowski.
According to him, the way to reduce surpluses on the grain market is to convert some of the grain into alcohol, which can then be used as an additive to gasoline.
Some of the remaining grain must be processed in biogas plants and the resulting biomethane can be used for electricity production.
– added.
You have to use the worst parts of the grain and recover the heat from them
– he stated, emphasizing that the calorific value of grain is slightly lower than the calorific value of fine coal, and the grain is much cheaper than fine coal.
Even if these are moral and ethical dilemmas, we must do this to, on the one hand, obtain the heat we need and, on the other, empty the warehouses needed for this year’s harvest and halt the fall in grain prices .
– he argued.
Who is parasitizing Ukrainian agriculture?
Ardanowski also pointed out that it is also important to close the border with Ukraine.
Continued talks with Ukraine about closing the border are necessary
– he said.
According to him, Poland should help Ukraine, but as he said, destroying European markets with food from Ukraine does not help the armed forces in any way.
This only fuels the income of large international capital groups that parasitize Ukrainian agriculture
– he said.
The Council for Agriculture and Rural Areas is an advisory and advisory forum for the President of the Republic of Poland. Its tasks include: supporting agriculture and the countryside, organizing thematic roundtables, working with government and local government institutions, and assessing legal solutions in the field of agriculture and the countryside.
