Tobiasz Bocheński and Magdalena Biejat clashed in a discussion on Polsat News. Candidates for mayor of Warsaw discussed, among other things, the city’s housing policy, but also the problems of the LGBT community.
The discussion started with the issue of the incumbent mayor not allowing tractors that protesting farmers wanted to enter Warsaw.
According to Biejat, the introduction of such machines would be a problem.
It is also the president’s duty to ensure that order is maintained and the entry of heavy equipment into the city can be problematic and cause destruction.
– said the left candidate.
According to Bocheński, the reasons for not allowing the tractors in were different.
It seems to me that the justification for this decision was the desire to protect public opinion from images of how gigantic these protests are, because the image on TV of people walking alone or in groups is different, and it would be different if farmers would drive agricultural machines.. These tractors would stay there and not destroy anything
– he said.
He then recalled that heavy military equipment drives through the streets of Warsaw during military parades.
LGBT issue
Then Magdalena Biejat brought up the issue of… LGBT people. At the same time she attacked Tobiasz Bocheński.
In this context, I wonder whether you made a mistake when you ran for the presidency of Warsaw. (…) Warsaw does not want to have a president who will present homophobic propaganda, who will oppose all the values that Warsaw presents today
– she said.
In response, Bocheński recalled that he had only commented on the LGBT community once so far, adding:
Madam Speaker is giving a left-wing and very unfair interpretation of my words.
The studio also discussed the housing situation in Warsaw. Tobiasz Bocheński sounded the alarm regarding spatial development plans.
First, 50 percent. Warsaw is not covered by spatial development plans, which causes some urban chaos. (…) Secondly, municipal properties must be inventoried. We have a lot of vacant buildings, the president doesn’t know what he’s managing
– he said.
In turn, Biejat presented the left’s plan:
We offer new residential areas where the rental price for an apartment is 50 m². amounts to PLN 1,500 including costs
– she said.
