Things are being done by the Church in Poland that serve the people, they should be supported – said Szymon Hołownia, Marshal of the Sejm in Poznań on Saturday. In recent days, the Marshal signed an order to the President of the Supreme Audit Office to monitor financial flows between the state and the churches. While defending the activities of the Dominican sisters, the leader of the Poland 2050 party attacked Father Tadeusz Rydzyk’s media, accusing him of creating a “media empire” thanks to state money.
Szymon Hołownia, during a pre-election meeting with Third Way supporters, pointed to the boys’ home in Broniszewice (Greater Poland Voivodeship), run by the Dominican Sisters, as a work worthy of special care from the state. It is inhabited by boys with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism.
On Friday, the sisters appealed not to exempt the state from bearing the costs of running and maintaining a home for people with disabilities and chronic diseases.
Supreme Court of Audit
As you know, I am now doing much, and I will do more, in the way of returning the Church and the State to their place. This week I commissioned the first such cross-sectional audit of financial flows between the state and religious organizations, especially the Catholic Church. If we still don’t know how much money was actually spent on everything related to Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, maybe we’ll finally find out. Let’s send the Supreme Court there and have it checked
– said the leader of Poland 2050.
According to him, the audit by the Supreme Court of Audit should show how much money has been spent on so-called ‘party propaganda’.
How many millions have been spent building a media empire for someone who is supposed to support the ruling camp, and not on real things that serve the people? Because in Poland there are things that serve people – including things that the Church does, and there should be no doubt that they need to be supported
– Hołownia added.

Support for the Boys’ House withdrawn
The chairman of the Sejm admitted that he had read the message from the sisters from Broniszewice on Facebook. After the marshal’s information about the order to control financial flows was published there, the sisters wrote that the state had taken away one million zlotys from the Boys’ Home in Broniszewice this year.
Let our state also control what is taken from our homes and act on its behalf. Last year 600 thousand, this year 1 million. We ask that our state not exempt itself from bearing the costs of running and maintaining homes for people with disabilities and chronic diseases.
– the sisters wrote on Facebook.
We know where our place is: at the bedside of a sick child, at the bedside of a disabled person, at the side of a dying child. There was never a channel to donate money to the Home for Boys in Broniszewice or the Home for Girls in Mielżyn. We owe everything that has come about for our students to our donors. It’s sad that there never was and isn’t a canal. And we must cope with financially difficult situations on our own, by asking for donors and standing for churches
– pointed to the Dominican sisters.
The promise of the Chairman of the Sejm
Hołownia said during the meeting in Poznań that he heard the voice of the sisters from Broniszewice.
I will do everything I can, and ask the Voivode of Greater Poland and my government colleagues for help, to identify the cause of this problem and ensure that institutions such as this beautiful house in Broniszewice, run by Dominican nuns, never have to worry about the state taking their money
– he said.
The state should give money to such institutions, not take it away. Because they care about the most vulnerable among us and they do it in a way that I know a little bit about, and I know a little bit about it, that I know is absolutely exemplary
– assured the Chairman of the Sejm.
Szymon Hołownia noted that the issue of financial flows between the state and churches is another proof that the Third Way means pragmatism instead of ideological passion and the pursuit of imaginary or real enemies.
There is a problem, let’s point out where it is: whether in Toruń or Broniszewice. It is there in Toruń, but not in Broniszewice, so now we have to do something to solve the problem in Toruń, so that Broniszewice does not have to worry about its future. I cannot do everything as Chairman of the Sejm, but whatever I can try, I will certainly do, because I know who I am dealing with.
– declared leader of Poland 2050, simultaneously attacking Radio Maryja and Telewizja Trwam.
