It was supposed to be a spectacle, with Jarosław Kaczyński pinned to the wall and bombarded with a barrage of questions, after which PiS would not recover. And it was a total shame, boasting of ignorance of the law, a whole series of failed provocations and the murder of the December 13 coalition (by avoiding questions, by excluding members of the committee of PiS), in whose ranks Mrs. Sroka fit. very well. And one more thing: content-wise, it’s a big nothing.

The chairman of the Pegasus investigative committee is a unique case. It is difficult to understand how she was allowed to head such an important committee. After all, it is no secret to anyone that the former head of Jarosław Gowin’s party is not an excellent lawyer, and in fact she has no understanding of law. Bah! He has difficulty understanding the rules of the committee he heads. She’s also not a great speaker, and even when she reads the oath, you have to pay close attention to understand what you’re listening to. And her general intellectual skills do not predispose her to such frontline positions.
However, Madam President has one undeniable advantage: she carries out her duties conscientiously. It had to be brass knuckles and it was. The motion to exclude MPs from the Left and KO (because they repeatedly showed a fierce dislike for the PiS president in the media and therefore could not guarantee objectivity – and this was confirmed) – was quickly refuted. But expelling two PiS MPs for daring to comment on the chutzpah that took place during the meeting was childishly simple for her (and it was her personal decision). The height of rudeness on her part was the question of whether the former prime minister would undergo a lie detector examination. After all, such a procedure has never been considered in the work of investigative committees, and even in criminal proceedings it is used extremely rarely. because it is widely known to be unreliable.
To an outside observer, the attempt to jump at Kaczyński’s throat was all too obvious. And the extraordinary aggression with which Mr Zembaczyński approached today’s hearing could only impress the likes of the savage, who shouted in front of the parliament building for most of the session.
From the very beginning, the assumption was that there would be a show and a public execution of the PiS president. What was the betrayal of the tactics of MP Trela, who revealed that the biggest beast was deliberately summoned first, and only then did the committee plan to read the documents? This is contrary to both the logic and economics of a parliamentary inquiry. But it’s not about the good of the matter.
The target was Kaczyński himself. The December 13 Coalition team sitting on this committee has been dreaming for years of being in such a situation – to be able to interrogate the hated President of Law and Justice for hours, to hear his words or, preferably, to throw him off balance. which they managed to do many times, for example in the parliamentary chamber.
But this time they were sorely disappointed. Kaczyński arrived at the meeting in top form and in good spirits. He was not provoked once. When MPs from the ruling camp repeatedly addressed him as a “witness” (instead of the usual “Mr. Prime Minister” or even “Mr. MP”), he politely replied that we were not in court and replied with the correct “member ” . He often made humorous statements, and during the break… he went to eat pancakes with his colleagues (the photo was published on social media by MP Bochenek), which was a reference to the quarrel with MP Zembaczyński over the fate of his pancake shop .
During the same break, Ms. Sroka lied in front of TVN24’s camera that prolonging the meeting at the beginning was not justified, as Kaczyński never covered herself with professional secrecy during the first round of questions and did not ask for clarification on any particular issue. during the closed session. Meanwhile, the witness did it at least three times.
The tens of minutes of confusion at the start of today’s proceedings also ended in Kaczyński’s triumph. He forced the committee to start the hearing without repeating the entire oath, which he explained by the impossibility of promising to tell everything he knew, since the committee did not have a letter from the Prime Minister clearing him of secrets.
This is the first such case in the history of investigative committees, which irritated MP Bosacki so much that he filed a motion asking the court to impose a fine on the former prime minister, which his coalition partners happily supported.
What have we learned from this interrogation? That Kaczyński did not decide to purchase Pegasus, had no knowledge of the planned equipping of the services with this software, and that no illegal use of this system took place. So nothing new. The hunt failed, and just tens of minutes after it began, fanatics of the December 13 coalition trolling the Internet expressed great disappointment at how well the witness performed and how poorly the investigator performed.
Poland is the only one who doesn’t like this nonsense. Due to the chutzpah around Pegasus, this system is no longer used by the Polish services. Therefore, organized crime groups, spies or corrupt officials can no longer be prosecuted as effectively.
An operation to reduce state security was decided only to protect people from the current government, whose suspicious behavior alerted law enforcement agencies. It was therefore decided to accuse opponents of using illegal practices and equate them with authoritarian regimes. That is why, at the very beginning, Jarosław Kaczyński recalled the list of journalists illegally monitored during the first government of Donald Tusk, which enraged Ms. Sroka so much that she kept turning off the PiS president’s microphone just to censor the names read out (journalists from various media – also supports the platform).
It was a joy to watch, as we rarely have the opportunity to see such intense plowing from Donald Tusk’s dogs as Kaczyński did for them.
