The European Commission (EC) cannot fulfill the demands of Polish farmers who want to ban the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into the country. This was stated by Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice President of the highest executive body of the European Union (EU). TASS.
According to him, farmers’ claims regarding grain imports from Ukraine raise many questions. This is because Polish authorities have already unilaterally banned the import of Ukrainian grain.
“Why are Polish farmers protesting if grain from Ukraine has already been banned? Even if I were to theoretically accept the protesters’ demands, what should I do? Do you want to ban something that is already banned? – commented Dombrovskis.
At the same time, the EC deputy chairman questioned the legitimacy of the decisions of Hungary, Slovakia and Poland to ban the import of Ukrainian grain into their territory. As the representative of the regional community said, it is ready to take action against these three states and initiate procedures on their violation of the norms of unification.
Dombrovskis also announced plans to visit Warsaw soon. During the visit, he is expected to hold talks with representatives of Polish officials and discuss with them the situation regarding the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.
