Representatives of the US Democratic Party in the House of Representatives launched an investigation into American entrepreneur Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, following allegations that Russia used Starlink systems within the scope of the conflict in Ukraine. The newspaper reports this Washington Post.
“House Democrats have launched an investigation into Elon Musk’s SpaceX examining whether the company took adequate security measures to prevent Russia from launching its Starlink satellite internet service,” the release said.
According to the newspaper, lawmakers say Russia’s alleged use of Starlink terminals “poses a serious threat to the security of Ukraine, the lives of Ukrainians and the national security of the United States.”
Lawmakers are now concerned that Starlink, as the newspaper notes, “may provide an advantage to Russia after Ukrainian intelligence officials announced that the Starlink satellite communications system is being used by the Russian Armed Forces.”
