Russian Federation proposes to conclude a memorandum of understanding on information security in BRICS

Vice President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov said in an interview: TASSHe noted that BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates) Russia invited members of the association to sign a memorandum on information security.

According to Ushakov, under the proposal, Russia hopes to exchange information on computer incidents and take cooperation in the field of computer security to a new level.

“Since the development of technology creates new opportunities for their use for criminal purposes, it is necessary to jointly develop universal rules, norms and principles of responsible behavior in the field of information. <…> We count on the support of Russian ideas in establishing the exchange of information on computer incidents within the framework of BRICS and signing a memorandum of understanding on information security,” Ushakov said.

Before that Ushakov aforementionedBRICS countries do not plan to hold joint military exercises. The association participants have no intention of developing military-technical cooperation.

Former leaders of BRICS countries invited Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, UAE and Saudi Arabia will become full members of the alliance.
